Staffordshire homes and what they mean for your stove
Housing changes a lot from one end of Staffordshire to the other, and that shapes what installation involves.
- Potteries terraces
Many terraced homes in Stoke-on-Trent were built with a chimney in each room, which have since been blocked up. Opening one back up usually means realigning the flue, and a 10m liner already comes with every package. If a chimney needs more than that, our flue liner replacement service will ensure your installer team has everything they need. - Rural cottages
Older stone and brick cottages in the Moorland around Cannock Chase can have larger or irregularly shaped openings, so the chamber finish and hearth size are planned around what’s already there. - Period townhouses
Lichfield and other historic town centres have plenty of Georgian and Victorian properties, where listed building or conservation area rules may come into play. - New homes
Estates around Stafford, Cannock, and Tamworth are often built without a chimney. In this instance, a twin-wall flue system runs up the outside of the building, so you can still have a stove.
Our Reviews
Don't just take our word for it, see what our clients have said about us.
Smoke control in Staffordshire
What you can burn depends on your council. Stoke-on-Trent is a smoke control area, so smoke from your chimney is only allowed if you burn an authorised fuel or have an exempt appliance.
Wherever you live, all our stoves are Defra-approved, so they count as exempt appliances and can burn wood legally in a smoke control area, provided you stick to the manufacturer’s recommended fuel and use well-seasoned, properly dried logs.
No matter where you live, our team is familiar with the rules set out by each district council - so you’ll always know you won’t be in any trouble. We’ll talk this through with you before you choose a stove.
What to expect from your Staffordshire log burner installation
It starts online with our stove package builder, which lets you choose the stove, chamber, hearth, and beam, and shows you the cost as you go - so you’ll never be waiting around for a quote.
Once the enquiry and quote are sent, Thomas will come to your property to check the chimney and book in your fitting date. On this convenient day, our experienced team will line the flue, fit the stove, and finish the chamber and hearth, before cleaning up.
As each team is HETAS registered, they sign the work off themselves, give you your HETAS certificate, and you can skip the building control visit.
